Harry Potter!!

I'm starting my Harry Potter book now. So excuse me while I drool and indulge in the magic. Don't be alarmed if you don't from me for a few days.

Disconnected.. again!

My roommate had the internet in her name, and decided to disconnect it while I was away. So.. no internet for me again. I think I may start going through withdraw. If you know my school e-mail address, fill free to keep in touch with me that way.

I saw something today that was crazy. I wish I'd had my camera with me, because I think tRJ would have enjoyed it. It was one of those cement lawn ornaments in the shape of a Brontosaurus. And it was painted... pink. Don't ask me why, because I don't know. So sorry I couldn't capture that moment for you tRJ...

Maybe if you all ask nicely, DS will keep you all entertained with some of his unique drawings and "writing" while I'm away.

Indeed, it is.

Dear Car-without-a-name,

So this is goodbye. I'm sorry I never gave you a name, and that I constantly reminded you that you weren't as good as my last car, Becky. I know that's usually a sign that the relationship cannot last. Still, I think giving up on me only six months into this thing was a rash decision. Becky held in there for eight years, and she was older than you too.

Thank you for not having a leaky windshield like Becky did, and for having a working rear defrost. I also thought it was really hot you had a clock in your dash. Becky was never one for new technology.

I hope you liked it when I washed your upholstery, and when I gave you new parts. I always thought that new drive axles, brakes, radiators, a/c, batteries, belts, and tires were an old car's dream come true. Apparently, I was off the mark, as it was the transmission that did us in.

It was only six months, but we had some decent times. Be good to your new owner, and thanks for being worth $700 to them.

Your owner no more,
SG

Is This Goodbye?

Well, obviously none of you wanted my car. That's okay, I don't need you. I don't need any of you!

Someone is coming to look at my new junker today. I just sold my last car, the one I wrecked last October. (aka, the car that was destroyed by the semi that tried to kill me.) So if I sale this car today, that's two cars in one week! I should go into sales.

9th Elsewhere

Today is Moral Turpitude's birthday. Yea for her!!

I've recently discovered a web comic called 9th Elsewhere. It's drawn beautifully in manga style. The main character, Carmen, is stuck in a dream state with her Muse because she broke the key that would allow her to wake. Since it's based in the subconscious, it gets a little wacky. Sometimes, I like some wackiness! Check it out if you're into that kind of thing.

Space Shuttle Go!

Tomorrow is my friend Will's birthday. He's from Huntsville, AL, and his birthday happens to correspond with the space shuttle launch. How lucky is he!?! In honor of this special coincidence, he gets this special birthday card.

Yeah, it's cheesy, I know. But I like that sometimes. My host for the week wanted to help with the card, so I had her design Earth. I'm pretty sure that's not what it looks like from space, but we all get the idea. I think it's funny, because she kept talking about making it look believable.

Happy Birthday Will!

Random Stuff

I'm back to squatting for the week. Not my favorite thing to do, but luckily, I get along with my host really well. It's better than missing out on a paycheck, that's for sure. That money has to last me through August, just in case.

For those of you who didn't know, MT's birthday is Thursday. I finished her present yesterday and had my brother mail it for me today. Maybe she'll be kind and post a picture for you all so you can see it. Or maybe she'll give it to me and I can. I didn't get a picture of it before I had to send it, and even if I had, I couldn't post it before she got it, now could I? (So don't even ask MT.)

Is anyone else excited about the shuttle launch planned for Wednesday? I know I am!

Why do people read blogs just to leave mean-spirited comments? That's something I just don't understand. If you don't like someone, do you have nothing better to do than harass them unnecessarily? I don't know, maybe it's just me.

I didn't get my required 10 hours of sleep last night. I'm very tired. Last night I fell asleep to dancing mobile ideas. And then I dreamed that me and some girl, I can't remember who, were riding around a weird subdivision on bikes. We had to do something at different houses. It was weird. I spent my first three hours this morning feeling hung over. Thank God for coffee, even if I do have to drink decaf...

Okay, that's enough. I obviously need dinner and a nap.

Excitement!

I got this in the mail yesterday from DS, along with some papers I had to sign for our new apartment. Did you know that Madison was also called Goblinville? Me either. I suppose that now my car is dead, the picture is slightly misleading. Nineteen days and counting!

BTW.. anyone want a 1992 Corolla that needs a new transmission but is otherwise a great car?

Coloring is Fun!

My current host is an archaeologist. Apparently, before she worked for the state, she taught. Today I found one of her teaching aids, The Human Evolution Coloring Book! She says they're actually a popular way to teach college kids, and that they're also available for anatomy.

My take: If my college chemistry professor had given us one of these, I might have done better than a C. It worked for me in 7th grade biology!

Color away kids!

p.s. I should tell you that this page was the least detailed, and each coloring page was accompanied by a page of text that was all scientific. There was a whole page on mammalian ear bones.

Keeping score

You Are 35% American

America: You don't love it or want to leave it.
But you wouldn't mind giving it an extreme make over.
On the 4th of July, you'll fly a freak flag instead...
And give Uncle Sam a sucker punch!

*Note: DS was supposed to have said that this blog entry was inspired by MT. He dropped the ball.

Lame-ness

I've never claimed to be a cool person. Okay, that's a lie. I claim it all the time. But the truth is, I know the truth is more like not-so-much. So it should come to no surprise to you that I'm finding trouble sleeping through all that racket they call the 4th of July. Now, I like fireworks as much as the next person. However, I distinctly remember the city declaring that celebrations would take place on Saturday. Not to mention that my alarm clock will still go off at 6:00 am whether I get some sleep or not.

Which reminds me. I hope and pray that when this internship is over, and I get a different job, it doesn't require me to get up at the crack of dawn. I am just not a morning person. I would much rather be out watching those fireworks, instead of getting ready for bed at 10pm, but I don't do well on less than 8 hours of sleep. If only I could re-use the sleep I steal from others... Staying up all night was never a problem when you didn't have to be up until noon.

The Countdown Begins!

I am moving in 25 days. I have to be packed in 23. I'm moving across 4 states to the nether regions of our nation, also known as Wisconsin. This means I get only one chance to make sure I have everything I need, because I'm quite sure my mother won't be renting another u-haul anytime soon. It's not cheap to move that far.

So there you see all the craziness that is my apartment. It's pretty scary. The last picture on the right is just one of my bookcases. You can see the little dent I've made in it, and that took four boxes. Will I get done in time while working a full time job and selling my art on the side? We'll see, won't we?

Mail!

Look what came in the mail for me! I was the first customer. :p If you don't have this stuff yet, you are totally missing out. They're so awesome! I think the cow is my favorite. His little tail is so cute.

So now, I command you all to patron Moral Clay. Or else!
